My well-being checklist
Last week, I identified a few things which give me energy and contribute to my well-being. Turns out that was just scratching the surface!
Questions began to form in my mind. What could I ask myself about my well-being – in order to lean into my personal agency?
Turns out there was much more I could control.
I could see this as the basis for my lifeboat – maybe it is even the first aid kit.
Here’s a few of the questions I can ask myself:
- Am I listening to my body and my mind?
- Am I moving my body?
- Am I eating and drinking what my body needs?
- Am I giving my body the right supplements to replenish what is lacking or needs support?
- Am I getting enough quality sleep and rest?
- Am I spending enough time with my strong, healthy connections?
- Am I inhabiting the right spaces?
- Am I talking positively and compassionately with myself?
- Am I working with my natural instincts?
- Am I staying in the present?
- Am I living my personal values?
- Am I aware of and secure in my core beliefs?
- Am I seeing possibility and opportunity?
- Am I being of service to others?
- Am I asking for help?
Am I missing anything? Possibly – but I think this is a good start.
What has become clear to me is how there are many moving parts which contribute to my well-being in what some might call a complex adaptive system. A complex adaptive system, like my overall well-being, looks at how relationships between my many moving parts give rise to its collective behaviors and how my well-being system interacts and forms relationships with my environment – and has “the capacity to change and learn from experience”.
I will be keeping this top of mind as I move forward. For each question, there is much, much more to explore.
This outline will serve as a framework for me and my well-being – something I can return to whenever I need it. And trust me, I need it!
